The upcoming year will be of a special character to the English Language Institute of Tetouan (ELI) as the Institute celebrates its 20th anniversary. On this occasion, the Institute extends its sincere thanks to all those who contributed to its success from close or distant students, parents, support staff and instuctors.
The past school year was full of prolific stations, led by the graduation of the first cohort of the YLE students. The young awardees were honored at a large award ceremony held by the Institute with the presence of family, friends and all ELI support staff. In the second half of the year, ELI´s cultural club threw an unmissable concert in celebration of International Women’s Day, featuring the Moroccan artist AMINUX and other first-rate performers in town.
ELI not only vows to foster the development of the locaI artist community, but it commits itself to bring positive change to the fields of culture and science as well. Following this, the director of the institute received a group of PhD students from the Faculty of Science of Abdul Malik Al-Saadi University in Tetouan to congratulate them for winning prizes on the sidelines of WIEU. To honor the visiting students, the Institute distributed awards for their benefit. ELI also participated positively in Baraim Errazi school ‘s Reading & Writing festival in its second edition .
For the third time in a row, ELI has played a central role in the Race to Space competition. Thanks to the American Embassy representative meeting with our students together with one of ELI’s ex-space camper that two candidates from the Institute were able to secure place in the semi-finals of the competition.
By dint of hard work and excellence, ELI was selected by Harriot-Watt University, Scotland to host its examinations. This privilege came to recognise ELI’s continuous effort of delivering quality education in a safe, caring and stress-free environment. Furthermore, ELI offered special support to 4 young talented artists in different domains to show their colours. ELI intensive summer courses witnessed a variety of weekly activities such as the American young director visit Galang Stro.
In this context, it is worth mentioning the remarkable improvement in the results of Cambridge English FCE and CAE examinations. I assure you that our Cambridge exams were among the best in the region with truly astonishing pass rate. This ultimate success is an inevitable result of the expertise of the Institute in running Cambridge exam courses as well as adopting a robust curriculum which opts to deliver high quality teaching.
As part of its new year-on-year renovation, the new school year will see the opening of a new pavilion and a variety of facilities, which will provide ample opportunities for ELI students to learn English at its best convenience. All ELI staff members benefited form First Aid training sessions in partnership with the Moroccan Red Crescent in Tetouan .
Part of the partnership between the Institute and the University of Cambridge, ELI students will be able to prepare for new types of international examinations.
As usual, the Institute, together with its cultural club, will organise an outlandish concert in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the institute, featuring this year the birth of the new slogan: “English is our mission and our passion.” Further details about the events will be disclosed subsequently.
